Packing tips that will come in handy the next time you move

If you expect to move during the next few months because your current renting contract will expire and you want to move to a new house, you should keep in mind the following packing tips, as they will help you have a much easier moving experience. Even if you hire a home moving North London company, you are the one who will probably have to take care of packing, in which case the following tips will certainly come in very handy:

Find boxes early on

Packing materials are not always cheap, especially if you have a lot of things that you need to move all at once. This is why you should start finding boxes as early as possible and the best way of doing so is by making friends to local grocery store employees. If you visit a certain store every day to buy your break and your milk (or beer), why not ask them if they have any spare boxes. Most grocery stores collaborate with recycling companies, but there is no reason why a friendly employee should not give you one or two boxes once in a while. Cardboard boxes fold easily, so they will not take up too much space at home and you will save a ton of money when you only have to buy a few more boxes once you are ready to move.

Mark all boxes

Once you do start to pack, be sure to write on each box what is in it. It will help the movers to stock them better in the van, without the risk of breaking something and it will help you once you start to unpack, because you will know exactly what each box contains and where it needs to go. You don’t have to offer too many details, a simple “dishes” or “summer clothes” will be enough to make the general idea of what each box contains.

Take your valuable items with you

You should never leave any jewellery, money or something else that is valuable in the boxes moved by the removal company. Unfortunately accidents do happen and boxes and get misplaced. The last thing you want is for the box with your family jewellery to get lost during transport, as there may be some things you can never get back. The same goes for family photos or anything else you might find extremely valuable.

Pack a few essential separately

You should make a box with the essentials you need for one night separately, in case something happens and the movers don’t get in time with your belongings. Even of the movers do get in time, it will be very uncomfortable to look for your pyjama in 5 different boxes with clothes and for your toothbrush someplace else. Pack everything you need for one day in a separate box, because it will make your life much easier and allow you to have a better moving experience.

These are just a few tips that will definitely help you the next time you need to move to pack all your things and take them to a new home.
